We're lucky to have plenty of non-toxic makeup and beauty products available to us now—so many that I sometimes find it difficult deciding what to try next. While I have Whole Foods and Detox Market in Toronto where I can try products in person, countless clean beauty brands from other countries are only available to me online. Instead of taking the chance on full-size products, I subscribe to Petit Vour's Beauty Box so I'm able to sample a handful of products each month.

Petit Vour curates personalized vegan, non-toxic, ethically-made beauty products. As part of the subscription boxes, many come in miniature sizes, sometimes full sizes. I've received three boxes so far, and here is what I've received for each of them:

Month One

Mostly skincare with Juice Beauty's Cleansing Milk, Lilfox Botanical's Eye Serum, and Poetic Blend's Hero Oil. Loved the oils, even though I've never used an oil as eye serum before. I wasn't sure about the Juice Beauty cleanser at first because I was concerned the creamy formula might clog my pores, but it didn't. It cleaned well and left my skin moist. Fior Minerals Organic Ignite Illuminator also came in the box. It's 100% natural, a highlighter that I use on the top of my cheekbones.

I received this box in the summer, so the mini products were perfect to take on vacation. I'm still using the illuminator. I don't know if I like this better, or Tata Harper's highlighter.

Receiving a full-size Contour Duo from Lily Lolo in this box was definitely a nice surprise. I don't have any contour sets, so I've been playing around with this. I've heard good things about True Moringa, so I was also excited to try their Lavender Facial Oil. The smell is a bit funny, but benefits include reducing redness, dry skin, and signs of ageing. I don't usually use body scrubs, but Formulary 55's Body Polish in Grapefruit and Rosemary was a nice experience. So was Box Natural's Luxe Toilettes. It came in handy on a camping trip. It's 100% biodegradable, clean and fragrance-free.

What's great about Petit Vour is that they actually send me things I need. How did they know I was running out of face cleanser? Osea's Ocean Cleanser, a gel formula, is a welcome addition to my skincare routine. Meow Meow Tweet's Baking Soda Free Deodorant Cream is also pleasant—it dries matte. The Odacité Serum for hydration was a personalized pick for my skin needs. I feel like you can't really go wrong with the face oils Petit Vour sends you. The Adorn Mineral & Organic Hydrating Cream Foundation is a shade too dark for my skin tone, so I'm using it as an eye shadow base, which the company recommends doing.

The Petit Vour Beauty Box is US-based but ships to Canada, custom fees included. The products I receive are usually ones I can't buy easily in Canada. Postcards come with each box featuring fun artwork on one side and a guide to the products along with their retail prices on the other. I've been really pleased with what I've received so far, so I'll continue with my subscription.
